Victoria’s Secret Strips its Apparel Collection
America’s largest lingerie retailer, the sultry Victoria’s Secret, is set to discontinue a sizable part of its apparel collection including its outerwear, knits, denim and certain dresses. Lounge and beach goods, items more closely related to the world of its lingerie products, will not be cut. The move comes as part of a strategy to refocus on its core offerings of intimate apparel, fragrances and cosmetics.

William Rast Returns to Europe
American clothing line William Rast, founded in 2006 by pop icon Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala and known for its premium denim products, has returned to the European market, showcasing its Fall 2014 collection in London with a presentation in historic Covent Garden. The move is part of a major relaunch for the brand in Europe which has seen it re-introduced to a host of European retailers in Germany, Switzerland and the UK as well as selected European online vendors.

Too Thin at MBFW?
Australian Mercedes Benz Fashion Week has faced criticism for the “skeletal” frames of some models on the catwalk. Marie Claire Australia Editor Jackie Frank began the furor after objecting to the presence of slight-framed model Cassi Van Den Dungen on the runway for designer Alex Perry, going as far as to phone the model’s agent to enquire about her health. An industry source speaking to the Daily Telegraph in London about the debate, discussed how models globally faced pressure to fit into very small samples, designed for Paris Fashion Week, which required a much thinner frame than typical for Australian models.
