Spotlight on Sarah Jessica Parker
American actress, singer, producer and fashion designer Sarah Jessica Parker has long since been a staple of stage and screen, shooting to stardom after clinching the title role in a 1979 Broadway production of Annie. From Broadway to the silver screen, the eighties saw Parker feature in a succession of movies including Footloose (1984) Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (1985) and cult classic Flight of the Navigator (1986).
Sarah Jessica Parker is best known for her portrayal of sassy lifestyle columnist Carrie Bradshaw in hit HBO television series Sex and the City. Parker picked up no fewer than nine awards as both lead actor and executive producer of the series, including bagging Emmy Awards for “Outstanding Comedy Series” (2001) and “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series” (2004). Building on the spectacular success of the series, 2008 saw Parker reprise the Carrie Bradshaw role in Sex and the City: The Movie, and again in 2010 with Sex and the City 2.
Far from taking it easy in light of Sex and the City series’ success, Sarah Jessica Parker has since starred box-office favorites including The Family Stone (2005) and Failure to Launch (2006), as well as foraying into the fashion and design worlds. In 2005 Parker launched her first fragrance, and in 2007 her inaugural fashion line: Bitten.
Right now Sarah Jessica Parker splits her time between the acting, fashion and business worlds: guest starring in Glee as Isabelle Wright, and heading up both her own production company, “Pretty Matches,” and her “SJP Collection” footwear collection.
