Fendi’s Condos & Lindsay Lohan’s New Lawsuit
Another weekly dose of fashion and entertainment from the Fashion Frontline team.
Italian luxury brand Fendi is forming a partnership with Florida developers The Chateau Group to build the Fendi Chateau Residence, a 12-story, 58-unit luxury development in Miami’s Surfside neighborhood. The label’s first-ever branded real estate development will be an opulent affair: Each unit will include a Fendi Casa kitchen with custom Fendi Casa cabinets and Gaggenau appliances, while common areas will feature a private restaurant, lounge with gourmet kitchen, library, business center, ballroom, private cinema and gym. The waterfront building will also boast multiple beachfront pools with cabanas, ponds and a relaxation terrace, complete with aromatherapy.
American celebrity, actress and aging enfant terrible Lindsay Lohan has again found her way into the headlines, filing a lawsuit against Take-Two Interactive along with its subsidiaries Rockstar Games, Inc. and Rockstar North. The complaint alleges that Take-Two Interactive violated Lohan’s rights to privacy by using her image likeness and voice without her permission in the massively popular Grand Theft Auto V computer game. Lohan alleges that the fictional celebrity character “Lacey Jonas,” a character who in the game is plagued by swarms of marauding paparazzi, is based on her. Take-Two Interactive have described the suit as frivolous, dismissing it as a publicity stunt, and have asked the New York judge to dismiss the case

This practice raises the ire of many fashion designers, but not creative director of Balmain Olivier Rousteing, who reported in an interview he is delighted when he sees Zara copy the work he does for Balmain. The generous designer praised the high street giant’s styling and the way Zara reference a host of designers to create a powerful fashion vision.
