Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux made a rare joint appearance at the red-carpet premiere of Theroux's HBO series The Leftovers.

In neon-lit Tokyo, Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning dressed as visions of good and evil at the premiere and press conference for the Disney gothic flick Maleficent. The life of a Hollywood star is not all ups though, as some disasters of the week showed. Bad boy Shia LaBeouf, who has had a string of PR blunders and brushes with the law, was arrested in New York City while attending a movie showing. Charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct, after a night spent in jail, he was released without charge. Gary Oldman greeted fans after an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, during which he made a public apology and addressed comments he made defending Mel Gibson during an interview with Playboy magazine. His comments had caused a furor over a perceived anti-Semitic sentiment.
