Structured and Boyish: Ports 1961’s Paris Mens Spring/Summer 2015




Ports 1961, also known simply as Ports, brought a youthful but structured look to the Milan runway with its menswear collection for Spring/Summer 2015. Creative Director Fiona Cibani pulled her inspiration for these designs from the prolific work of Italian architect Renzo Piano, creating looks that are simple but interesting, boyish but pulled-together. Cibani's keen eye for balance and detail is evident in the pieces: the clean lines and structured collars, lapels and shoulders are balanced out through the use of loose silhouettes and playful details like asymmetrical hem lines and varying pocket placement.

The collection’s monochromatic color pallet—primarily in tan, beige and other nude shades—is kept from verging on the monotonous through pops of color in hues of olive green, navy and white. The casual, sportswear-appropriate pieces—heavily composed of cotton and silk—are pulled together and held to a boys’ theme through sturdy laptop backpacks and briefcase accessories.

Though Ports 1961 has only been designing menswear since 2011, the label has already established that it’s a high quality, luxury ready-to-wear brand that will continue to bring timeless pieces to the fashion world.
